The Stanley Cup dreams have been snuffed out for a handful of the Nation Hockey League teams so far as the Montreal Canadians, Vancouver Canucks, Minneosta Wild, and the St.Louis Blues have lost in the first round of the playoffs. Price per head shops are now getting ready to put up adjusted odds to win the Stanley Cup, but we still have a few games to get through before they do.
In some regards it could be a blessing that the Canucks are out, since the city of Vancouver is still feeling the pain of their loss (of manners) to the Boston Bruins in game 7 on June 15, 2011. In fact last years’ playoffs were carefully orchestrated to decentralize the fans in an effort to avoid further problems.
It is of some note that the use of social and personal media photos and video that was used to identify suspects in the Vancouver riot is the same that the police of Boston used to identify the bombing suspects of the Boston Marathon. Vancouver’s efforts landed them over 5,000 hours of video and identified 15,000 criminal events and individuals.
Hockey of course runs deep in many cities to the north, and none more so that one of the original 6, the Montreal Canadiens, who also experienced a similar riot in 1993, but not because of a loss. The Canadiens won the 1993 Stanley Cup 4 games to 1, and instead of being good hosts, the city of Montreal erupted with fans taking to the downtown streets and vandalizing shops and setting police cruisers on fire. In total, 168 were injured, including 49 police officers.
Price per head companies now look to some of the teams that have already moved on to round two.
The Chicago Blackhawks last won the Stanley Cup in 2010 against the Philadelphia Flyers. The San Jose Sharks have made three appearances in the Conference Final, but have nevern played in a Stanley Cup Final.
The Los Angeles Kings won the 2011-2012 season, and are looking good to try a second time. If they succeed, they will be the first team to win twice in a row since the 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 Detroit Red Wings.
